Nine weekends, one truffle, half of Alba on its feet
The Alba International White Truffle Fair is in its 96th edition and fills nine consecutive weekends, from 10 October to 6 December 2026. Its heart is the World White Truffle Market, in the Cortile della Maddalena entered from Piazza Falcone: this is where the trifolao bring in each morning what they found the night before, and the Truffle Judges check it stall by stall before it can be sold.
Everything else orbits the market: the sensory analyses, the chefs' shows, the guided tastings, the producers' stands and a town that changes rhythm completely on autumn weekends. This year's theme is "Authentic Relations", the truffle as the result of a balance between woodland, soil and the people who look after both, rather than as a souvenir.
World Market hours and tickets
The market is open Saturdays 9.30 to 19.30 (last entry 19.00) and Sundays 9.30 to 19.00 (last entry 18.30). Admission is 6 euro, online or at the gate; the online ticket also includes the MUDET museum. Under-15s and visitors with disabilities plus one companion go in free.
One practical tip: turn up early, close to opening. By mid-morning the best stalls have already been worked over by the people who buy seriously, and the smell in the courtyard at that hour is something you do not forget.
Getting to Alba on fair days
On autumn weekends Alba receives more visitors than it can park. The old town is pedestrianised, the bays around it fill by mid-morning, and on Sunday evening the queue to get out stretches along the ring road. With your own car you lose a good hour between finding a space and going back for it.
From Turin
About seventy kilometres, an hour on the road: we start at your hotel, the station or Caselle airport and drop you in Piazza Falcone, a few steps from the market entrance. In the evening we leave from the same spot, at whatever time you decide.
From Milan and the airports
Milan city is a little over a hundred and fifty kilometres, Malpensa and Bergamo slightly more: around two and a half hours, comfortably done in a day with an early start. Many groups arrive on Saturday morning, spend the day at the fair and head back after dinner. By train from Milan you change at Asti and it takes two and a half to three and a half hours, with evening services thinning out.
If you are staying in the Langhe
We collect you at your farmhouse or hotel, including the ones at the top of the gravel roads, and bring you back in the evening. It is the formula that makes most sense if you have bought truffle and bottles: they ride in the car instead of in your hands.
Morning in the woods, afternoon at the fair
The day we suggest to first-timers: a truffle hunt with a trifolao at first light, breakfast at the farmhouse, then the World Market in the afternoon, once you have seen where what you are buying comes from. Anyone staying two days adds a day among the cellars: in November, Barolo and truffle explain each other.

Can we go truffle hunting?
Yes, with a local trifolao and his dog. The Alba white truffle is searched for from 1 October to 31 January under the regional calendar; out of season the hunt is for summer and hooked truffles, in the same woods with the same dog. The outing lasts two to three hours, involves little walking on easy ground, and almost always ends with a tasting. We drive you to the meeting point and back: the woods are not reachable by public transport.
How far ahead should we book a day out?
As early as you can, especially between September and November. The most sought-after estates close their diaries weeks ahead and Alba is full on Truffle Fair weekends. For a day among the cellars we suggest three or four weeks; for a dinner or a transfer two days is enough.
Can you reach the Langhe by train?
To Alba, yes: from Turin there are direct trains in about an hour and twenty minutes, from Milan you change at Asti and it takes two and a half to three and a half hours. The problem starts afterwards: Barolo, La Morra and Monforte have no station, and buses between the villages are rare and do not run on Sundays. Anyone staying up in the hills, or travelling with suitcases, normally arrives by private transfer from the airport or the station.
Do you collect us at the hotel or is there a fixed meeting point?
We collect you where you are staying, anywhere in the Langhe: Alba, Barolo, La Morra, Monforte, Barbaresco, Neive, Serralunga and the villages around them. If you are coming for the day from Turin or Milan we start at the airport, the station or your city hotel and bring you back there in the evening.
Is it worth booking the return at the same time?
Yes: booking the outbound and return in the same request applies a 5% discount on the total, already calculated in the price you see before confirming. On top of that the driver already knows when to collect you and the time stays locked in.
